Once a year in  early November the small Italian town Città di Castello in the province of Perugia in Umbria awakens to life and is the centre of the truffle exhibition in the form of a fair. The focus is the rare white truffle, the most expensive edible mushroom which is found in the chestnut woods of the area. It is the highlight of the Autumn/Winter season and is celebrated with events, markets stalls, and of course truffle based delicacies. At the market, as well as truffles, visitors can sample and buy local wines and typical products of the region and there are also other local products and crafts items on display.  The visit of to the truffle market can be combined with a leisurely stroll through the historic centre of Città di Castello with its duomo, museums and art galleries.

The Mostra del Tartufo Bianco takes place for the 40th time over three days from Friday the 1st until Sunday the 3rd of November.
